Corona Hospital Tracking Research

  • Corona Hospital Tracking Research

This contest is loosely based on an idea that was proposed to us by one of our members Noorjahan Binte.  Also, many other people are doing it these days in social medias since Corona is getting from bad to worse in Bangladesh. But we will do our own research and see what we can find.

This is a contest. In this competition, you have to think from the perspective of a person who has just been tested positive of Corona. Suppose a person just tests positive for Corona.  In that case,  the infected person will first quarantine himself or herself at home and then if the situation gets worse, then he/she will start the arduous journey of finding a hospital bed. But is there anyway a person can find a hospital bed quicker?

For our contest this time, you have to come up with an idea by which an infected person can visit an online page or platform and quickly find the nearest hospital that can immediately accept a new Corona patient. Your job is to make this hospital selection process extremely quick. So the moment the patient visits your page or platform, he/she immediately finds the nearest hospital that is ready to take a new Corona patient. We also want a platform or page that can be built very easily, quickly and cheaply without spending any money at all or very minimal money. So, you do not have to give us very sophisticated solutions that may take months to build. Just give us a solution that is something creative, but quick, easy and can be implemented within a very short amount of time.

While building your platform or page, think about these following points and try to address them in your solution:

    1) Come up with an idea, platform or page that a patient can quickly use and immediately find the top 15 or 20 hospitals within  his/her 50 mile radius that are immediately accepting a new Corona patient. Google map will probably give you this result, but how will you know which hospital has Corona patient vacancy without calling and visiting them one by one? How will you organize this information in a page and update it everyday? How will your final solution look like?

    2) How will the locations be organized and shown to help the user find the nearest hospitals in their area? Will your solution list a group of nearest COVID hospitals with vacancies or will it first check the location of the user and then show nearby COVID hospitals with vacancies?

    3) How will you build your solution? Will you make it through social media, your own website or app, etc? Countless people are already doing these kinds of things in social media, but are they creative, or do these solutions give quick results without waiting too long?  Can you come up with a better idea that what these people are already doing and do it as cheaply as possible?

    4) Who will update this Corona hospital vacancy information everyday in your page/platform?  Will it be updated by volunteers or doctors everyday or will it be updated automatically? Or will Corona released patients update this info? Or will your page automatically redirect people to other places, websites or links where they can find out about these new hospital vacancies?

    5) Where can you find the critical data that regularly shows COVID hospital vacancies in your nearby areas?

    6) How can you help the people in each district of Bangladesh? Can people from each district use your solution to find nearest hospital accepting COVID patients? The Bangladesh IEDCR website has some information about infections in each district, but nothing more than that.  So can your solution help people of every district in an effective manner?

    7) If there are no hospital beds available, then what can the patient do immediately for now?  Can they immediately get in touch with nearby COVID specialized doctors who can give them suggestions? Are there any home remedies or home oxygen supply systems as a last resort? Can something be made at home?

Please address all these above points in your solution as much as you can. Your points will go up if you can address all the above issues in your solution. If you have any specific visual design which can clarify your idea better, then please send it to us along with your description (although designing anything is optional in this contest, but still it gives good visual cues to the reader)

Remember, this is a competition where the person with the best solution will get $20. Runner-up will get $10. So, if you are interested to showcase your solution, then please click on 'Accept Project' in this page and send your idea to coolinventor17@gmail.com by April 28th, Bangladesh time. You can write or design (design is optional) your solution in any word document, PowerPoint or use any other common formats and e-mail it to us. Everyone's ideas will be shared with the community regardless if they win or not. So share your idea to educate us! For any questions, comment below.
